PFT Provides Concrete Leveling for Gas Company

PFT Assists Anadarko Petroleum

Natural Gas Field, concrete leveling, concrete leveling DenverAnadarko Petroleum has six hydraulic fracturing stations on the Wattenberg Gas Field in Colorado and Wyoming. Recently an inlet line broke at one of its stations just north of Denver, CO. The break allowed injection fluid to flow under the concrete slab foundation. This created three to five-inch voids beneath the slab floor and left the concrete floor quite uneven. The general contractor from Open Range Services immediately began looking for the best option for leveling the damaged concrete.

Why Anadarko Decided Against Mudjacking

Initially, the general contractor for the station, Open Range Services, considered leveling the slab with the traditional “mudjacking” method, where a mixture of concrete and aggregates is forced beneath the concrete slab. He soon discovered that the process would be too costly, time-consuming, and difficult to apply and would require replacing the concrete slab.

Why Polyjacking is Best for Concrete Leveling

Instead, ORS contacted Pro Foundation Technology, Kansas City, MO, for information about the latest process, “polyjacking”. According to Steve Walker, general foreman for Pro Foundation Technology,

“It’s [polyjacking is] a far superior method. Mudjacking means you drill large holes in the lab, mix the mud or grout onsite, and pump it using large hoses into the holes in the slab. It’s dirty, invasive, and time-consuming. Geotechnical polyurethane foam is much lighter- four pounds per cubic yard, versus 120 pounds or more using mud – simpler, cleaner to use, and much less expensive. We pump two-part liquid systems from a truck or pull behind rig through a narrow hose into a gun used to inject the unique geotechnical foam beneath the slab to fill all voids. The foam expands, fills the space, raises the slab to level then cures in place to become highly durable and [help] prevent further erosion at that site.”

How is Polyjacking Installed?

At Pro Foundation Technology, they utilize a product called TerraThane, manufactured by American owned, NCFI Polyurethanes. They use the following process:

  • Locating voids with radar equipment
  • Drilling 5/8” holes in the slab
  • Injecting TerraThane
  • Lifting and leveling the slab
  • Cleaning up (requiring minimal effort)

The entire polyjacking process takes only seven hours versus mudjacking, which may require weeks or months for hauling in, placing, drying, and cleaning up tons of mud. Follow this link for more information on the features and benefits of polyjacking.

Anadarko Petroleum is Another Satisfied Customer

According to Walker, Anadarkio’s general contractor for the Denver facilities, Open Range Services, was extremely pleased with the results, and “They said they knew who to call if it happened again.” The hydraulic fracturing station is one of six owned by Anadarko on the Wattenberg Gas Field in Colorado, the ninth-largest gas reserve in the US.

PFT Serves Top Companies in West and Midwest

Pro Foundation Technology, based in Kansas City, MO does foundation repair, waterproofing, concrete lifting and leveling, and crawlspace repair throughout Kansas and Missouri. Eventually, its polyjacking services became the nationwide standard for concrete lifting and leveling. (As a matter of fact, they invent the term, “Polyjacking“). PFT formed a separate division, Polyjacking.com, which specializes in the polyjacking process.
