Steel Piers

Steel Push Piers Kansas CityWhen your foundation is showing signs of foundation failure, Pro Foundation Technology has the expertise and products to repair your foundation. Foundation problems are typically caused by changing soil conditions around and below your home. Dry soil causes it to shrink and wet soil causes the soil to swell. All of these changing soil conditions will cause your home to shift and sink. Pro Foundation Technology uses a steel push pier that is made by Earth Contact Products (ECP) for foundation repair and underpinning. The ECP steel piers are the top resistance piers in the industry. These steel piers penetrate the soil deeply, beyond the expansive soils, to support structures from either the interior or exterior of the foundation. These are the strongest and deepest driving piers available. These push piers provide a two-stage system of driving steel pilings to a bearing stratum. When they reach the load-bearing soil, a hydraulic manifold lifting system can recover the lost elevation or provide a precise stabilization of structures.

Like other resistance piers, it is an end-bearing pier that does not rely upon nor require skin friction to produce support. After each pier is installed, they are field load tested. These piers can develop a high factor of safety because the piers are installed and load tested individually using the maximum weight of the structure as the reaction force.

A friction reduction collar is attached to the lead section of the pier pipe creating an opening in the soil that has a larger diameter than the pipe. This reduces the skin friction on the pier pipe as it is driven into the soil and allows the installer to load test and verify that the pier has reached firm bearing stratum or rock suitable to support the load. During the load transfer, high-pressure hydraulic jacks are placed at multiple locations and connected to a hydraulic manifold, reducing the load on each pier.

The four steps for installing push piers:

  • Excavate around the foundation
  • Mount the foundation bracket
  • Install the push piers
  • Transfer the weight of the structure

The Benefits of Steel Piers

Our patented Model 350 ECP Push Pier is the system with the highest marks in the industry for steel piering systems. As far as resistance piers are concerned, you won’t find better technology in the industry. So remember the many benefits including:

  • Very high capacity of up to 99,000 pounds
  • Max field testing load of 74,000 pounds
  • 74 square inches of bearing surface
  • Fully adjustable lift capability that is unlimited
  • Piers install from inside or outside of the structure
  • Comes with a friction reduction collar on the lead section of the pier
  • Piers install with easily portable equipment-making for fast installation
  • There is little or no vibration when installed
  • Installs into the rock or load-bearing stratum
  • All of the piers installed are load-tested during the install process
  • Piers are covered by manufacturer’s warranty
